EUGENE — It was Justin Herbert’s game and everyone else, including his brother Patrick, was just playing in it. The former Oregon and current Los Angeles Chargers quarterback hosted his first celebrity softball game Saturday afternoon at a packed Jane Sanders Stadium. Herbert won the home run derby in dramatic fashion, beating his younger brother and current Ducks sixth-year tight end 17-16 on the final swing with their father, Mark, pitching.
“Essentially, it’s my tournament,” Herbert said after beating the field largely composed of his current Chargers teammates. “So we’ll count one at the end but there’s an asterisk next to it.”.
