JOAN Benedict, who is popular for her roles in Candid Camera and General Hospital, is no more. She was 96. Benedict breathed his last in a Los Angeles hospital on June 24 after he faced complications that are caused by a stroke, a family spokesperson confirmed.
As a child, Benedict had studied dance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and attended the Rome Opera Ballet School. In New York, she shifted her focus to acting, and took lessons at The Actors Studio and worked with Robert Lewis and Stella Adler. She kicked off her career in acting in the 1950s, by making an appearance in The Steve Allen Show and Candid Camera.
She also bagged roles on television shows like The Smith Family, The Incredible Hulk, Apple’s Way, and Fantasy Island, and films including The Happy Hooker Goes to Washington, The Trials of Rosie O’Neill, Dollhouse, and Perfect Victims. Benedict also played Edith Fairchild in General Hospital and made an appearance in Days of Our Lives. Besides her role in TV and movies, Benedict also earned massive recognition known for stage acting.
