CORNWALL, N.Y. – Jeffrey Scott Dreher Sr.

, of Cornwall, N.Y., passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, surrounded by his children and family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was just 62 years old. The son of Frederick (Ron) R. Dreher and the late Judith A.

(Lahey) Dreher, Jeffrey was born Oct. 26, 1961 in Waterbury, Conn., and grew up in Prospect, Conn.

He graduated from Kaynor Technical High School, Central Connecticut State University, and the University of New Haven with a master’s degree in elementary education. The highlight of Jeffrey’s professional career was being an elementary school teacher for the past 27 years, first teaching in New Britain Public Schools, then joining the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). He relocated to Japan in 2002, teaching United States military dependents living at Camp Zama at John O.

Arnn Elementary School. Upon returning to the States in 2012, Jeffrey continued his career at West Point Elementary School at the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

Jeffrey had a unique way of reaching his students. He was able to take them to the highest levels of learning due in part to his passion for teaching, which was recognized by numerous awards, accolades, and thousands of thank-you letters, which he received from students and parents alike. Jeffrey loved the outdoors, staying active by golfing, bicycling, and participating in the Block Island Triathlon.

His favorite activity was skiing with his childre.
