Conspiracy theories around Jay Slater 's disappearance have been rife, forcing one This Morning to remind Internet sleuths how harmful they really are. Isla Traquair was back on the ITV programme this Wednesday, June 26, as she spoke to Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about the numerous theories surrounding the 19-year-old. The crime journalist also informed viewers that some online content creators have decided to jet off to Tenerife themselves to help with the search.
It comes after Spanish police have spoken to several people who claim they may have seen the missing teen watching Euro 2024 matches after his last contact with friends, accorrding to a local mayor. As speculation about Jay's whereabouts continues to mount, one TikTok user went viral for deciding to explore the Rural de Teno Park, where sniffer dogs have been included in the efforts to find the missing boy, to explore caves and crevices local authorities may have missed. Unfortunately, another group of social media users have gone a step further, posting troubling hypotheses and even spreading hoaxes about the disappearance while 'sightings' have been reported.
This left Isla Traquair frustrated as she reminded viewers what was really at stake. "I went into a deep dive very late last night looking into all this. People have posted photos of bodies saying 'that could be his body' and they've traced to a photograph taken in Iceland.
It's absolute nonsense - can you imagine how traumatic that is for his family?", Isl.
