FOODIES have reason to celebrate today, after Lidl announced the long-awaited return of a cult bakery favourite. There's just a matter of days to wait until the 99p Cheese Twist makes a comeback in stores on 30th May. Lidl describes the twist as an "impossibly light and airy savoury delight", with "layer upon layer of buttery and flaky pastry intertwined with rich, flavourful British mature cheddar".

The comeback news comes after fans of the flaky treat clamoured for its return on social media, with one writing: "The only thing that can fix the country is for @LidlGB to bring the cheese twists back! "I don’t think I can go on for another month without Lidl cheese twists," another added. "Petition to bring back Lidl bakery cheese twists!" a third commented. There was even an official Lidl Cheese Twist Appreciation Society created by Twist-lovers.

Lidl had earlier hinted that a Cheese Twist return might be on the cards, by sharing a Spotify playlist on an Instagram Reel that had a definite theme to it - with songs including Say Cheese by Paul Russell and The Twist by Chubby Checker. To mark the return of the twist, Lidl has also created a competition for fans to win a Twisties bundle of 'merch'. Inspired by pop superstar Taylor Swift, there will be 1,989 fan bundles to win on a first come, first served basis.

Inside there will be a limited-edition fan t-shirt, a Twisties friendship bracelet and a free Lidl Plus Cheese Twist coupon, available to collect in store. There will al.
