STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- After 20 episodes, Season 49 of “Saturday Night Live” has come to an end.
Last week, host Jake Gyllenhaal set the stage in his opening monologue, teasing the finale as “the last episode before the big anniversary season.” Despite the presence of many longtime “SNL” cast members, there were no significant farewells or indications of departures during the Season 49 finale of the iconic late-night program. Singer/actress Sabrina Carpenter was thrilled with her debut as a “Saturday Night Live” musical guest.
The 25-year-old singer performed her hit single, “Espresso,” during the show’s season finale. Colin Jost and Michael Che concluded their 10th season together on the Weekend Update segment by bidding everyone a good summer. The lack of farewells may indicate that all 17 members of this year’s cast will return for the show’s 50th anniversary.
A post shared by Saturday Night Live (@nbcsnl) The show returned for its 49th season with new episodes in mid-October. And, in typical “SNL” fashion, the long-running show brought in a very special guest for its season premiere on Oct. 14: Pete Davidson, the born-and-raised Staten Islander who joined “SNL” in 2014 at the ripe age of 20, and bowed out at the end of Season 47.
Ice Spice was the musical guest. Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny pulled double duty on Oct. 21.
Stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze hosted the Oct. 28 episode, alongside musical guest the Foo Fighters. Nov.
