A GOFUNDME has been set up to raise funds to support the family of an Irish man on life support in Lanzarote. Michael was on holidays on the Spanish island when he suffered a massive heart attack followed by a brain stroke. He is now in intensive care in a Lanzarote hospital where he has been diagnosed with a life threating condition.

While it is "early stages" the family are "holding out hope" as Michael battles his illness abroad. Michaels "favourite daughter-in-law" Jenny Wall created the GoFundMe to raise funds to support his immediate family. The goal was to raise €5,000 to take some of the financial strain off his family while he was ill, but the fundraiser has already raised over €20,500.

Posting the GoFundMe Michael's daughter-in-law shared his story. She said: "Hi everyone my name is Jenny and I am Michael’s favourite daughter-in-Law, I’m writing this on behalf of Michael’s immediate family. "We are sharing the story of Michael, who recently experienced a sudden and severe medical emergency.

"Michael has always been the type of person who puts others before himself and now, he needs our help." She continued: "On Monday 3 June while on holiday, Michael collapsed with a massive heart attack and then suffered a brain stroke he is now in intensive care and on life support at Dr Jose Molina Orosa Hospital in Lanzarote, Spain where the Doctors have diagnosed him with a life threatening condition. "While it is early stages, we are holding out hope for Michael.
