IRELAND AM star Muireann O'Connell made a public apology after she accidentally offended fans with her striking telly outfit. The Virgin Media presenter was back on set this morning alongside her co-hosts Tommy Bowe and Alan Hughes . Muireann is well known for her style, but today's outfit choice struck a nerve with many viewers.

Cork is playing Clare in the All Ireland Hurling final on Sunday and Muireann's county Limerick was knocked out last week by the rebels. Fans thought the Limerick native had purposefully chosen her "red" dress to show her support for Cork. During this morning's show, she took to Instagram to issue an apology for her accidental show of support.

Muireann said: "So apparently people think I am wearing this outfit, because I'm from Limerick." Tommy then butted in to add: "She's from Limerick, she hates Clare and she's supporting Cork this weekend. Tell them the truth Muireann" Muireann added: "If you think I put that much time into what I wear in the morning.
