IRELAND AM star Karen Koster has revealed the reason behind her shock exit from The Six O'Clock Show last November. The Six O'Clock show is currently helmed by Darren Kennedy and Katja Mia, with Darren stepping in for Brian Dowling who is on paternity leave. Karen surprised viewers on air when she and her co-host Greg O'Shea announced they intended to step away from the evening program last November.
Her reason for leaving was to spend more time with her kids, but since leaving and working at "freelance capacity", Karen has found it's given her more time to spend with her husband. Karen and businessman hubby John McGuire have been together since 2007. The happy pair tied the knot in 2013 in a breathtaking ceremony in Sicily.
She told The Independent : "John retired two years ago. He sold his company Quote Devil. I saw him enjoying flexibility, going off and playing a bit of golf, being available for drinks mid-week so it’s not like I have no buddy to hang out with.
"I thought I was making more time for the kids, but actually it’s made more time for me and John." The popular presenter said her husband's retired lifestyle greatly influenced her decision to leave the show. She added: "We’ve three young kids so the days are busy.
I thought it’ll be great because I’ll be home more for the kids. "But what’s happening is, because I’m home more in the afternoons, me and John are sneaking off and getting a babysitter in and going to an early movie or for an early bird di.
