Spoiled food served to passengers as part of their in-flight service led to a Delta Airlines plane making an emergency landing. On Wednesday, Delta Airlines flight 136 departed Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Michigan, United States for the Netherlands. But when “spoiled” food was found the flight diverted to JFK airport in New York City , the airline said.

. @delta I need to know how you’re going to get me to Amsterdam today - I’m on the plane that’s emergency landing at JFK because you served passengers “contaminated” food - I don’t need hotel/food vouchers I need to arrive in Amsterdam today. According to data from the online flight tracker Flightradar24, it was almost three hours into the flight, close to the Gulf of St Lawrence, when the Airbus A330-323 aircraft started to turn around.
