Inside the world's most dangerous city where hundreds of people are murdered every year

It was once considered to be one of Mexico’s safest and most desirable vacation spots (Image: Getty) Located along invaluable drug trafficking routes, this city reported over 600 homicides in 2022, making it the world’s deadliest city. Mexico secured nine out of the 10 top spots on the list of the cities having the highest homicide rates in the world, excluding those not at war, and with a population of at least 300,000 people. New Orleans in the US was the only non-Mexican city, securing eighth place.

This list was based on 2022 data from The Citizen Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice, an advocacy group from Mexico City. Other cities included Zamora, Tijuana and Celaya. Don't miss.
