AN Indian skincare fan has shared the kitchen ingredients she uses to exfoliate her skin. She explained that the East Indian cooking staples were incredibly underrated for their beauty and health benefits. Redditor Remarkable-Low-643 shared the skincare tips in a viral post.

Instead of rough physical exfoliants that may damage the skin, she opts for grains and powders as a natural remedy. "Ground-up shell powder, rice powder, or flour (whole wheat or chickpea) make excellent physical exfoliants that won't cause micro-tears to the skin," she said. Rather than usher in a new layer of skin, she explained that the powders proved to be much gentler.

"They act more as skin polishers," she said. "Depending on your skin needs, mix with cold, boiled milk, honey, curd, or aloe vera gel to make a paste. Rice powder also calms skin with rosacea.

" For those with a darker complexion, she recommends turmeric powder to give the skin a dewy glow. "In my opinion, it doesn't work on pale skin which stains," she said. "Even on some pale brown skins.

But on duskier, warm-toned skin, it's beautiful." "In my experience, a good substitute [for] turmeric powder for paler skin is beetroot powder mixed with some honey," she added. "It stains the lips too, so [you] can also leave on [the] lips.

" For an easy and soothing homemade toner recipe, she recommends brewing unsweetened green or chamomile tea. To store the "toners," she transfers the teas into spray bottles and keeps the bottles in the refrigerat.
