Football fans in North East Lincolnshire – including a dog – are looking ahead to England’s game against Denmark tonight with hope, and their homes are decked out to prove it. Two families in particular have shared their thoughts about the 2024 European Football Championship and shown their support for England – and Scotland – in the tournament by dressing their houses accordingly. Kenny, in Stanley Street, Grimsby, has outdone his neighbours and possibly most of the town with his 10ft tall inflatable football supporter holding a “Come On England” banner over his head.

Kenny, and one-year-old Frankie, posing for our photographer outside their flag-decked home, were dwarfed by the figure. Kenny said: “We always have the decorations out when it’s the Euros or the World Cup. “We’ve had the inflatable guy for years; I got him off a car boot/market stall, he was just sat in a box.

I’ve looked after him well, he hasn’t had any punctures, I’ve only had to replace the blower.” Kenny said: “We just decorate the outside of the house. The kids going past to the school around the corner love it.

It’s just a nice thing to do. “I believe England will win tonight – although Denmark aren’t a walk in the park – and that they can go all the way in the competition. If it ain’t now, it’s never going to happen, is it?” Meanwhile, George Graham, supporting both England and Scotland in the contest, is wondering how the family dog Rudi will react to to.
