More info NHS GP Dr Karan Raj has sought to explain why patients are often told their test results are 'normal' even when they continue to experience symptoms. Dr Raj, who is known on TikTok as @dr. karanr , said many patients get confused when they're told tests - like blood samples - come back normal, and yet they continue to feel unwell.

He shared an important reminder on the platform, saying: "There is a saying in medicine, treat the patient, not the results. Blood test, scans and other investigations are just pieces of the puzzle . They are not always definitive on their own.

He noted: "Medicine often has a hard time saying I don't know and instead puts the lack of explanations as proof of no disease, or worse, a mental disorder . A lack of answers could also be down to a doctor's lack of knowledge or maybe that we are looking in the wrong place.
