THE Los Angeles Lakers have hired its first ever female coach, Lindsey Harding. Harding will become an assistant to new head coach JJ Redick . She will join Jenny Boucek at the Indiana Pacers, Brittni Donaldson with the Atlanta Hawks and Sonia Raman at the Memphis Grizzlies as women coaches in the NBA.
Harding led the Stockton Kings to the No 1 seed in the Western Conference and an appearance in the semifinals of the G League playoffs. She was named G League Coach of the Year for her achievements. The news has been reported by ESPN's Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
"Lindsey Harding — the G League coach of the year — has agreed on a deal to become an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers," he posted on X, the site formerly known as Twitter. "Harding leaves the Kings to rejoin JJ Redick, whom she spent time with on the Sixers staff and as a Duke All-American." Fans were quick to respond with their verdicts on the news.
"Idk what Redick is cooking but I’ll let him cook," one fan said. "This is exciting, big things happening at the Lakers," another fan posted. "JJ not messing about, this season gonna be great to watch," a third fan commented.
"Wow, I was not expecting this to happen," a fourth fan said. "Amazing job for Lindsey, good luck to her," a fifth fan said. The 2023-24 season ended in disappointing fashion for the Lakers , with a first-round playoff exit.
