Actor Tony Lo Bianco has sadly died at the age of 87. The film and TV star's passing was announced by New York radio station TalkRadio 77 WABC on X formerly known as Twitter. Sharing the news online, they wrote: "Breaking News - Actor Tony Lo Bianco has Passed more to Follow.
" Lo Bianco was born to first-generation Italian American parents in New York City. His career began in theater and he went on to appear in several Broadway productions throughout the 1960s. He first appeared on the big screen in The Sex Perils of Paulette (1965), before taking on the role of a killer in the semi-autobiographical crime flick, The Honeymoon Killers in 1970.
He then starred as Salvatore Boca in William Friedkin's critically acclaimed action film, The French Connection in 1971. The star later played a detective investigating a series of murders in Larry Cohen's horror film, God Told Me To in 1976. He also appeared in six episodes of Joseph Wambaugh's anthology TV series Police Story, four times alongside Don Meredith.
As his career flourished, Lo Bianco went on to appear in number of well-known films throughout the 90s to 2022. But fans may also remember him for his regular appearance on Law and Order. Tony first appeared on the hit crime drama in 1992.
He also came back in 2007 playing the role of Joesph. As well as his several acting credits, Lo Bianco previously served as the national spokesperson for the Order Sons of Italy in America. His humanitarian work has been recognised with numer.
