For many, being comfortable is key, and if you can blend both fashion and comfort into an outfit, then it's a double win. Some people feel life's too short to wear clothes that don't make you look and feel good - and that also goes for footwear. Long gone are the days where you'll thanklessly squeeze your feet into too-small heels, just to be perceived in a certain way.

But others think certain fashion items take it too far, and when one woman asked whether it'd be reasonable to wear Birkenstocks to a wedding, some kicked off saying they weren't dressy enough. Taking to Mumsnet , the woman explained she was attending a wedding "partially outdoors on a farm". She explained the legal ceremony had already taken place, and "this is the celebration of their marriage".

She said she wasn't sure whether Birkenstocks were "too informal", explaining she didn't "want to wear heels" but didn't "currently have any other flat shoes" that go with her dress - so if people thought they weren't appropriate she'd have to go shopping. Some backed the woman, with one saying: "I would, but then I wear them everywhere in the summer as they are the only sandals I can physically be comfortable in. There’ll be lots saying you need heels and delicacy though.

" Other people said "no", and that they "wouldn't" do the same. Someone penned: "No. You don’t need heels, just a pair of nice sandals or wedges for an informal celebration.

Birkenstocks are only suitable for walking from a changing room to a po.
