Rainbow Six Siege Esports had never drawn my interest, which is quite strange. I’ve logged nearly 300 hours in the game and am an avid esports fan. I always follow League of Legends closely, occasionally watch an Apex match, and can even thoroughly enjoy esports in unexpected games like Mario Kart and Geoguessr.

So why had I never watched Rainbow Six Siege matches? I don’t have a good answer for that. It makes no sense that I never watched, because after attending an intense match between two Brazilian teams, I was instantly hooked. For those who don’t follow the world of Rainbow Six Siege esports (which is probably many), this weekend is the Major, a major international tournament of the game, in Manchester.

Invited by Ubisoft, we were allowed to attend this, as they call it, spectacular event to experience the energy and passion firsthand. The Bad Guys There was nothing exaggerated about that passion and energy. This became immediately clear in the match between Furia, the Brazilian favorite and world champion, and Team Liquid, a team active in the Brazilian scene.

The atmosphere was particularly intense, especially due to the disdain for Furia, which turned out to be anything but popular. Although I was informed in advance that Furia was not loved by the fans, I was totally unprepared for what would happen. When the five men of Furia took the stage, it was immediately clear how poorly they were received by the crowd.

The packed hall, with thousands of spectators, boo.
