My name is Gayus Jonah Saraki. I am the elder brother of the deceased, Beauty Joshua, from Bogoro, Bauchi State. She was one of the people who lost their lives in Bauchi State when a mining pit collapsed in the Gudum Sayawa suburb of the Bauchi metropolis.

People in the villages visit the mining site daily to mine different minerals like precious stones and the rest. It is a major business the villagers engage in for survival. However, on that day, the cave collapsed and claimed the lives of some people, and my sister happened to be one of those people who died.

They couldn’t escape the cave site when it collapsed. The incident happened on January 25, 2024, and she was buried on January 27, 2024. She was buried at the Christian cemetery in Bigi, Bauchi State.

What did she do for a living before she started working at the mine site? After her secondary school education, we were considering if she could further her education. But in the interim, she wanted to live with our sister, who is a fashion designer, so that she could learn from her.
