Shihabudeen’s dream abode in his hometown in Malappuram could be rightly called a WhatsApp house, because, settled in the US, he mostly used WhatsApp to communicate his ideas with the architect throughout the whole process of construction from developing the concept to handing over the key. He could come to Kerala only twice while the house was being constructed. This beautiful house is nestled between the verdant hills in the serene countryside of Kondotty in Malappuram, Kerala.
The family wanted a contemporary house with minimal yet elegant interiors that are easy to maintain. The elevation features the flat, box-style with a GI cantilever car porch. Meanwhile, the interiors mostly don the classic combination of white and grey hues.
Designed in 2900 sq ft, the house has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area and four bedrooms. The shades of white and grey make the interiors brighter and pleasant. White vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor.
The use of timber is minimal, instead, alternative materials like metal, steel and aluminium have been used for making the doors and windows. The dining area is close to the staircase. An open serving counter connects the kitchen and the spacious dining space.
Furnished in white theme, the modern island kitchen looks incredibly spacious. Meanwhile, the counter in the centre could be used for cooking, dining or even as a study space. There are three spacious bedrooms on the gr.
