COATESVILLE — Three more men will now have a comfortable place to call home. Dozens of volunteers from W.C.

Atkinson Memorial Community Service Center and the community worked hard to fully renovate a two-story duplex home for three men experiencing homelessness, at 743 Merchant St. W.C.

Atkinson Memorial Community Service Center Executive Director Andrew McNeil Jr. was all smiles, last week, during a ribbon cutting recognizing completion of the nearly ready-to-occupy home. “Three men experiencing homelessness will call this home,” McNeil said.

“Our goal is to end homelessness one person at a time.” The home will house three working men seeking permanent housing. The 3-bedroon, 2 1⁄2 bath living unit is located in the heart of Coatesville.

Three formerly homeless men will rent and share. There are now five other three-men homes like the one on Merchant Street, with two more planned. Minnie McNeil is Vice President of the Board of Directors at Atkinson, and said that there are properties throughout the city that can be used by unhoused men, which is Atkinson’s focus, and others for families and children.

“The beauty of a project like this is that it starts with individuals voting and then funding becomes available–an example is ARPA funding,” she said. McNeil noted that the project could not have happened as quickly without the contribution of Good Works. City Manager James Logan said that the housing symbolizes the incredible partnerships in Coatesville.
