Tuesday, May 28, 2024 Jack So, Chairman of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), recently toured the Cainiao Smart Gateway and 11 SKIES, two key developments at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), to monitor their progress. Accompanied by Cissy Chan, AAHK’s Executive Director of Commercial, the visit aimed to stay abreast of these strategic facilities’ developments. The Cainiao Smart Gateway, initiated by a joint venture led by Alibaba Group’s subsidiary, Cainiao Network, began operations in September 2023.

Developed by New World Development, 11 SKIES is a central feature of SKYCITY at HKIA. Set to become Hong Kong’s premier one-stop destination for retail and entertainment, 11 SKIES will spread across 3,800,000 sq. ft.

It will feature over 800 shops and host the largest indoor entertainment center in Hong Kong, covering 570,000 sq. ft. Mr So said, “Cainiao Smart Gateway and 11 SKIES will take our airport to the next level.

Cainiao’s new facility will enable us to capture the immense opportunities arising from the continuous growth of cross-boundary e-commerce and consolidate our position as the e-commerce hub of the region. On the other hand, 11 SKIES will help transform HKIA into a tourist destination in i.
