Dunblane-based artist Laura Gill is hosting a solo show of her work in Dunblane Museum until July 31.

Although very much a ‘local’ artist, Laura’s work sells internationally, with pieces recently shipped to Germany, Australia and the USA. But one of her latest creations is attracting even more attention than most. ‘Sassenach’ has been shared online by thousands of fans of the hit Amazon Prime show Outlander.

And now there’s a chance to see the piece in all its glory as part of the Dunblane exhibition. Laura said: “Recently I completed a painting - ‘Sassenach’ - inspired by the hit TV series Outlander. It’s a depiction of the heroine - Claire - looking in a mirror, dressed in 1940s couture, seeing her reflection back in the mid-1700s as Claire Fraser, with Jamie in the background.

“I painted this as no more than a fun challenge to myself. “However, it seems to have gone crazy, being shared again and again on Outlander fan groups, and I have simply now lost count of the responses from all over the world. “It’s six.
