The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Thiruvananthapuram and six other districts, warning residents of potential heavy rainfall and urging caution. The relentless downpour has severely affected Air India Express (AIE) flights, leading to multiple delays and cancellations.
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has witnessed chaotic scenes as frustrated passengers voiced their anger over the lack of timely updates and assistance from airline staff. Several flights bound for and arriving from Chennai were notably affected, adding to the travelers’ woes. Kerala ‘s rail services have not been spared either, with numerous trains running behind schedule due to waterlogged tracks and landslides.
The Southern Railway has been struggling to maintain regular operations, as tracks in certain sections have become impassable. This has left passengers stranded at various stations, with minimal information on alternative arrangements or expected delays. In response to the escalating situation, passengers in Kerala have staged protests at major transportation hubs, demanding swift action and better communication from authorities.
At Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station, a large group of commuters gathered, chanting slogans and holding placards, calling for improved infrastructure and emergency respon.
