HAVERFORD — The Haverford Township Historical Society announces its 16th annual Heritage Festival is slated for Sunday, June 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.
m. along Karakung Drive in Havertown. The popular spring event will raise funds for the Historical Society’s important restoration campaigns and educational programs.
Organizers will encourage Heritage Festival attendees to make a small donation of $2 per person or $10 per family to support its programs. The festival continues the tradition of celebrating local history and culture with friends and families of all ages in the beautiful natural setting by Cobbs Creek. The festival will feature living history exhibits, live music and dancing, a wide assortment of food and a beer garden, offering craft brews from some of the area’s finest microbreweries.
History comes to life with live demonstrations of weaving, blacksmithing and candle dipping, as well as spinning and quill writing by Colonial Plantations. Attendees can meet representatives of the Lenape Nation, Robert Mouland marionettes, PA Mayflower Society, and the 3rd Regiments USCT. History and the Black American Revolutionary War experience will come alive when Noah Lewis portrays Ned Hector, a Pennsylvania hero.
Returning favorites include Touch-a-Havertown-Fire-Truck, featuring emergency vehicles from Haverford Township fire stations, live falcons from Baywings Falconry and a display of micro-scale models of Main Line train stations by members of ColonialLUG. Truly a co.
