SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Pride Month, celebrated in June each year, is dedicated to celebrating and commemorating LGBTQ+ pride. It began in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, a turning point in the fight for LGBTQ+ civil rights. It initially started as a one-day celebration that later expanded into a month-long series of events, including parades and festivals like we see today.

If you’re celebrating Pride in Utah, here’s how you can join in on the festivities. Local Pride Kick-Off Drag Dinner: There will be a local pride kick-off drag dinner at The Local Eatery & Bar, on Thursday, May 30. Doors open at 6 p.

Pride Interfaith Worship Service: The Pride Interfaith Worship Service has traditionally kicked off the Pride Festival with prayer, music and more as faith traditions that are inclusive to the LGBTQ+ community come together to begin Pride celebrations.
