Tom announced he was quitting the long-running series after five years in the role of Reverend Will Davenport back in 2023.
The actor has played the much-loved character alongside Robson Green's Geordie since 2019. Grantchester's ninth series, which is set to air in 2025, has already been filmed and will be Tom's last. At the end of last year, the actor said he was stepping back from his role to focus on new projects.
