Gov. Jared Polis made a quick appearance in Loveland to see the art show named after his position in the state: the Governor’s Art Show. “Loveland is art central and it is only appropriate that they host one of the most amazing art shows in Colorado,” he said.
During his brief stop Wednesday morning Polis met with museum and show staff as well as several artists, many of whom he asked questions of as he perused the various paintings, sculptures and more that the show has on display. “It means a lot to us and to the art community that he supports the artists and (that) he makes a point (to come),” said Ruth Scott, show director, adding his purpose was not to come make a public speech but instead meet with and learn from the many artists who were featured. Several of the artists who spoke and met with Polis Wednesday morning spoke highly on what his visit meant.
Loveland artist Ana Maria Botero said Polis’ recognition of the work that went into the many pieces was important, adding that him coming to see the exhibit in Loveland shows that great art is found all over the state and not just in downtown Denver. “It’s wonderful,” she said. Greeley artist Jason Frederick-Law said that being an artist means working hard to get enthusiasm from viewers to recognize the hard work, time and effort artists put into their work.
