India’s most awarded single malt whisky introduces a pioneering initiative to preserve classic Indianfilms. Cannes 2024: Godawan, India’s most awarded single malt whisky in recent times, has announced a long-term project to preserve classic Indian films via digitisation and colour restoration. Unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2024, this initiative promises audiences an experiential journey into Indian cinematic legacy.
The project kicked off with the restoration of archived classic Indian film posters, which were showcased in a curated exhibition at the festival. Godawan announced this initiative at the Majestic Hotel’s Croisette Room, where guests were treated to an immersive walkthrough of digitised versions of eight historic film posters, showcasing the rich stories of Indian cinema. Notable attendees at this launch included Mr Sanjay Jaju – Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and his wife Dr Jyoti Jaju, film producer Bobby Bedi, actors Shobita Dhulipala, musicians Shaan and Sunanda Sharma, YouTuber and content curator Ankush Bahuguna, etc.
Speaking on the initiative, Ruchira Jaitly, Chief Marketing Officer, Diageo India said, “Our film restoration project is dedicated to preserving the timeless beauty of Indian cinema by digitising and bringing alive a series of classical Indian films. However, this initiative isn’t just about preserving films; it’s a pledge to safeguard our cultural legacy, ensuring that India’s vibrant cinematic histo.
