HE has been hit by a string of shocking allegations of sexual assault over the past few years. But I can reveal that embattled French actor Gerard Depardieu is making his big screen comeback in an adventure-thriller called Travel Agents. Production on the project, which has an £85million budget, is due to begin later this summer and it will be his first time making a film since he was arrested for rape in 2021.
Gerard, has been cast in a major role in the flick, which is loosely inspired by the life of Austrian entrepreneur Jurgen Pichler, who is better known as the singer Trickster and who will act as an executive producer as well as starring in the movie himself. I’m told that Travel Agents will be similar to Wolf Of Wall Street and Catch Me If You Can, with a plot involving secret agents infiltrating a drug empire followed by a cat-and-mouse chase across the globe. A source said: “This will be a major return for Gerard as he hasn’t starred in a big film in a while.
“He is excited to put the past few years behind him and get back to doing what he loves. “Trickster, who the film is based on, has flown out to Cannes Film Festival to officially announce it this week. He has an extremely colourful past so it is bound to be a nail-biting movie.
” Although many may be outraged about Gerard’s casting, others will be celebrating, as more than 50 prominent French figures including Carla Bruni denounced his “lynching” last year and said he “is probably the greates.
