THE CEO of General Motors has declared that the manufacturer's electric vehicle issues are a thing of the past. GM is preparing to release major electric vehicle models after multiple downfalls with EVs last year. GM CEO Mary Barra said the biggest challenges of the Ultium revolution are in the past.

By the beginning of this year, GM projected to have had half a dozen electric vehicles selling that use Ultium architecture it unveiled at 'EV Day' in March 2020, electric car news outlet InsideEVs reported. The list of EVs included its Chevrolet Silverado EV, Blazer EV, and Equinox EV, the Cadillac Lyriq and the GMC Hummer EV in two versions. Though all of the GM EVs were all selling at minimal rates or outright unavailable by last December.

One model has reportedly been under a stop-sale order for months while others were severely behind schedule. With Barra's bold claim that the manufacturer's EV challenges are behind them, only time will tell if she's right. Barra said she's confident that the GM is out of the woods when it comes to its EV quality issues, she told Detriot News earlier this month.

GM plans to add plug-in hybrids to its US lineup to meet federal regulations. She noted that the automaker sees plug-in hybrids as part of the needed solution. The new vehicles are to arrive in 2027.

While there is also the question of EV demand in 2024, there's a possibility that GM may not be able to convince its customers to jump ship. It could face an oversupply and have to make .
