Becoming a homeowner or starting a family are goals many people set for themselves but the priorities of Generation Z are a little different. A new study from BestOntarioCasinoSites.ca looked at what 2,000 Canadians and 2,000 American GenZers consider most important and what takes precedence in their lives.
The top financial goals for the demographic are saving for a house (42%), setting aside money for travelling and experiences (27%), and investing in education or career advancement (20%), and stockpiling emergency funds (11%). Homeownership is a big deal, though, with a whopping 73% saying it is a primary life goal. However, Gen Z also considers the lack of affordable housing as the biggest fiscal obstacle they will face in their lifetime, with 61% uncertain they will ever have the financial freedom to afford to buy a home.
Nearly two-thirds (61%) of Gen Zers are in no rush to have children, opting instead to get a pet as a means to start a family. Meanwhile, while many still find marriage important, more than 40% don’t view it as necessary, with many choosing to stay single (on paper, at least). It could be argued that because of how tough times are and all the struggles people are facing, that’s why Gen Z is living a little more, for lack of a better term, selfishly.
But given how owning a home and getting away take up more than two-thirds of Gen Z’s overall financial priorities, it’s clear for the group that finding that middle ground of stability and enjoying w.
