Martin, 75, penned the books that inspired the hit Game of Thrones TV show . The hugely popular writer has attended scores of conventions to see fans desperate to meet him. He also held the title of Toastmaster, who hosts ceremonies at the convention, and attended Worldcon when it came to Glasgow in 1995 and 2005.
