EAST FAIRFIELD – A cool breeze wafted through the East Fairfield meeting house’s front lawn as Lewis Franco and his band the Missing Cats played to an audience of a few dozen people this past Saturday evening, July 13. The event was part of a series of concerts hosted by the Meeting House on the Green, which has been an predominant institution in East Fairfield for close to 150 years.
The building – a former church – was acquired by a group of preservation-minded residents in 2012. Since then, the group has helped host a summer concert series. Each performance is played either outside on the front lawn, known as the ‘green,’ or indoors if the weather requires it.
This past Saturday, Franco said he hoped that people would be entertained and appreciate the thought he put into his lyrics. After one song, there were shouts of ‘well done’ and ‘beautiful’.
He also had a different approach to playing at an outdoor venue compared to an indoor one, he said. “I’m not talking as much,” he said. “It’s a little more distracting with cars driving by.
