Saturday, July 6, 2024 Galeries Lafayette Haussmann has recently integrated the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), enhancing convenience and security for its customers. This move is part of the store’s ongoing commitment to modernize and simplify payment methods. Developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), UPI has been a game-changer in India’s digital payment scene since its launch in 2016.
This system allows for immediate, interbank transfers via mobile apps, enabling users to manage multiple bank accounts under one application through unique virtual identifiers. The NPCI, established in 2008 as a non-profit, has been pivotal in fostering India’s payment infrastructure, thereby driving the digitization of the Indian economy and broadening financial inclusiveness. A special cocktail event on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, marked the introduction of UPI payments at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann.
The event featured distinguished guests such as H.E. Jawad Ashraf, Ambassador of India, and Nicolas Houzé, CEO of Galeries Lafayette, underlining the significant role of international relations in the store’s business and cultural initiatives.
“We are delighted to be the first department store in Europe to offer the UPI payment solution at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann. By introducing UPI, we facilitate seamless and secure transactions for our Indian customers and strengthen cultural and economic ties between France and India. As the number of visitors from In.
