Saturday, July 6, 2024 To commemorate its 50th anniversary, the Shangri-La Group (“Shangri-La” or “the Group”) has officially launched a limited edition book titled “From the Heart: Celebrating 50 Years in Asia.” This book honors Asia and its people, who have significantly contributed to the region’s dynamic growth and prosperity. It encapsulates the spirit of Asian hospitality initiated by Mr.
Robert Kuok, the founder of Shangri-La Group. Hui Kuok, Chairman of Shangri-La Group, said, “This book is our love letter to Asia, celebrating the pioneering spirit of Asian hospitality that has defined the region’s remarkable transformation over the past five decades—a spirit that also paved the way for Shangri-La’s own unique journey.” As described by Hui Kuok in the book’s prologue, “This is the Asian hospitality we believe in—anticipating a guest’s needs before they are even voiced, creating a world where you feel warmly welcomed and genuinely cared for—and are proud and honoured to celebrate with this book.
” This book opens with a chapter by Mr. Robert Kuok, chronicling Shangri-La’s 50-year journey in Asia. While the Group has expanded to over 75 destinations worldwide in the past five decades, the book highlights six key locations integral to its story: Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, and the Philippines.
