Have you ever stumbled upon a video online featuring someone either rapping or dancing to a song with the catchy refrain ‘BBL Drizzy’? With its infectious beat and lively melody, this tune became a favorite backdrop for countless social media posts. But seriously, what’s the story behind this viral song? The track ‘BBL Drizzy’ has skyrocketed to online fame not only for its irresistible rhythm but also for its humorous and irreverent take on rapper-singer Drake. For starters, ‘Drizzy’ is one of the nicknames used for the said artist.
The term “BBL,” on the other hand, stands for ‘Brazilian Butt Lift.’ Combined, these words have become a jab at rumors, popularized by Rick Ross, that Drake had undergone a similar treatment. Now, this scene further escalated when well-known producer Metro Boomin utilized this meme to attack Drake amidst their ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar.
As a response to Drake’s challenge at him to “shut up” and “make some drums” in the diss song “Push Ups,” which was released on April 19, 2024, Metro Boomin released on SoundCloud an instrumental beat of ‘BBL Drizzy’, a beat originally crafted by King Willonius using an AI music startup called Udio. To make things even worse, Metro made this beat available for anybody to rap over as a contest. Participants are invited to create and upload their own diss tracks aimed at Drake, using the hashtag #bbldrizzybeatgiveaway on social media.
The winner of the contest will rece.
