Isabella, whom I have known since I was 7, shares what her journey has been like and the lessons she has learned since winning the crown. 2011 Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism Isabella Manjon Thought Junkie: What encouraged you to join Bb. Pilipinas?Isabella Manjon: Initially, I hesitated about entering a pageant, as I had no prior experience in such events. However, when our mentor, Tito Rodgil Flores, urged me to participate, I started training right away. At the time, I was waiting for my board exam results for nursing, so I had time to train.Despite my reservations, I found myself inclined to embrace the unfamiliar and test my capabilities. My decision was driven by a desire to push my boundaries and dispel the misconception that pageantry revolves solely around physical appearance. Instead, I wanted to show that pageants offer a platform for meaningful contributions to society, showcasing the potential to make a positive impact on others."What was that experience like for you?Participating in pageants is undeniably thrilling. We have the privilege of showcasing creations by talented local designers, mingling with diverse and captivating individuals, and forming lasting friendships along the way.How was life during pageant season? Was it everything you had hoped it would be?Life during pageant season was a whirlwind of excitement and activity. Days were filled with intense rehearsals, fittings, and preparation for the main event. All the girls supported each other. Aside from the busy schedule, there were also moments of bonding and laughter, as we shared experiences and built friendships that would last long after the pageant season had ended. Overall, it was a time of growth, challenge, and unforgettable memories. What was life like after the pageant? After the pageant, my life took a turn. I delved into the world of showbiz for two fun years, immersing myself in various projects and opportunities. Then I transitioned to a role as the events manager for Mall of Asia Arena under SM, where I continued to channel my passion for organizing and orchestrating memorable experiences for others.Following the challenges of the pandemic, I embraced a fresh opportunity as the Assistant Mall Manager at SM Megamall, continuing my journey of contributing to the dynamic world of retail and entertainment. I have been with the company for 10 years. What made you take this path? Manjon now works for one of the country’s biggest mall chains, SM, as an Assistant Mall Manager. I chose to pursue a life outside the spotlight because I wanted to expand my horizons beyond being a nurse and an artist. The corporate setting provides extensive training programs and continuous learning opportunities, which I find essential for both personal and professional growth. I sought an environment where I could continually develop new skills. The corporate world also offers ample opportunities for mentorship and leadership development. Learning from experienced professionals and eventually taking on leadership roles was a significant motivator for me. Currently, I am the Assistant Mall Manager for SM Megamall. I handle all operational concerns for the mall and coordinate with our tenants. My role is fulfilling as I help customers in need, contribute to the launch of new restaurants or stores in the Philippines, and develop fresh, innovative campaigns for the mall. What would you tell those aspiring to be beauty queens? My message to aspiring beauty queens is to pursue whatever brings you genuine happiness and fulfillment in life.
