Join the City of Campbell River (the City) for weekly summertime performances and special events that will keep Spirit Square buzzing from June 4 to Aug. 30. Lunch in the Square will feature live music every Tuesday at noon, beginning on June 4, with Comox Valley bluegrass trio Whiskey Mayhem.

The June lineup will also include Quadra-raised, Toronto-based fiddle virtuoso Jaron Freeman-Fox; new Campbell River resident and violinist Nadia Logist; and Cortes singer-songwriter Jemma & the Good Thing, joined by Kootenay singer-songwriter Robbie Bankes. The evening River Concerts series begins at 7 p.m.

on Wednesday, June 5, with Big Band Night, which will feature nearly 40 local musicians from the Carihi Jazz Band and Strathcona Big Band. On June 19, the stage will transform into a runway for a downtown fashion show, hosted by Revival Vintage, and bilingual Indi-folk band Rosier, from Montreal, will headline on June 26. Spirit Square also plays host to community celebrations, including National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, Campbell River Pride Festival on June 22, and Canada Day on June 30 and July 1.

The Campbell River Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.

m. until mid-September. Entertainment at Spirit Square continues throughout the summer.

July and August performers will include a Vancouver Island MusicFest preview concert by New York City saxophonist and composer Stephanie Chou who merges Chinese folk music with American jazz, Indigenous reggae ban.
