Former Ukip chief Henry Bolton starts a new job...

as private investigator, EDEN CONFIDENTIAL reveals By Stephanie Tayki Published: 22:35, 29 May 2024 | Updated: 22:37, 29 May 2024 e-mail View comments As politicians face the prospect of seeking new careers after the General Election, one ex- party leader has taken a colourful approach. For I can disclose the remarkable, improbable CV of Henry Bolton — said by interviewer Niall Paterson to be 'the most interesting of any politician I've ever met' — has taken a diverting turn, six years after he stood down as Ukip leader following developments in his sometimes tumultuous personal life. He's forging a new career — as a private investigator.

But thrice-married Bolton, 61, is swift to assure me that he won't be tailing a target. 'It's not about following somebody around — absolutely 100 per cent not. It's not a private eye [role] nor bodyguarding,' says Bolton, whose military experience began in the Royal Hussars before he joined the Territorial Army, by which time he'd also been an officer in Thames Valley Police and earned an award for bravery.

Instead, he says, he's helping companies which 'know that they've got a problem' — perhaps when stock is going missing — 'but don't have the expertise to investigate and [to which] the police won't respond'.
