CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. — Drew Gordon, a former NBA player, died in a crash Thursday afternoon in unincorporated Clackamas County . The 33-year-old is the older brother of Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon.
He played college basketball at UCLA and New Mexico. He also played nine games for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2014-2015 season, and played pro basketball overseas. Drew Gordon was a native of San Jose, California, and lived in Oregon City, Oregon.
The crash involved two vehicles on South Springwater Road near South Stevens Road shortly after 1 p.m., according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
Drew Gordon was driving a Vanderhall Carmel three-wheeled autocycle . According to a preliminary investigation, he crossed over the center line and hit a GMC Sierra pickup truck. Drew Gordon died at the scene.
Deputies said the driver of the pickup truck and a passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Philadelphia 76ers reacted to Drew Gordon's death on social media, saying "We send our condolences to the Gordon family and their friends." The Denver Nuggets said their organization is devastated.
"Drew was far too young to leave this world, but his legacy will forever live on through his three beautiful children and all of his loved ones," the Denver Nuggets said on X. "Our hearts are with Aaron and the Gordon family during this extremely difficult time." pic.
