With the Fourth of July just around the corner, the cravings for some all-American fare are in full summer swing. And can you get more American than the classic combination of a hot dog and a beer? For the holiday, I decided to pair up some of Charleston's best hot dogs with beer offerings at these local watering holes.
Enjoy some frankfurters, froths and fireworks in celebration. The Homewrecker hot dog long has been one of the favored items at Riley Park concession stands and was featured during "Jimmy Kimmel Live" when Kimmel quizzed Charleston RiverDogs' co-owner Bill Murray. There's nothing more American than a baseball game, and there's nothing I crave more at a baseball game than a good old-fashioned hot dog and a pint of beer.
If you're heading to a Charleston RiverDogs home game anytime soon (they're playing July 4-6 and then July 9-14), you can select from a variety of winning wieners available at the stadium. There's the Average Joe Dog or its bigger brother, the Footlong. The Bulldog is nod to The Citadel with chili, cheese and diced onion, while The Homewrecker is a 1-pound all-beef dog with bacon, coleslaw, pickled okra, pimiento cheese and BBQ sauce.
