A CONVICTED killer is at the centre of a manhunt after a young father was stabbed to death. A major probe is underway after Mark Carroll, 34, was knifed at a house in Finglas , northwest Dublin at around 1am this morning. Carroll was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown from the Scribblestown area by ambulance but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Detectives identified the suspect in the case early on and efforts were being made to locate him today. The man, from Dublin and in his 30s, previously served a sentence over a killing. He quickly was back on the radar of cops after he was the victim of an attack last year.
Investigators probing the overnight stabbing suspect that the altercation that led to Carroll’s death was sparked by an argument and it is not gangland related. Gardai believe Carroll was attacked and slumped to the ground nearby where the incident happened. A source said: “This appears to be an argument which got out of hand, but work is still ongoing to establish the full facts.
“Efforts are being made by the gardai to identify a man who has been identified as a suspect. “He is a volatile character who has been involved in criminality for a number of years.” Carroll is a young father who is understood to have previously served time in the army.
In an emotional tribute on social media , the victim’s cousin Danielle Maher said: “I can’t belive it I’m numb cuz can’t belive your gone. “Life soo [sic] cruel young life taking way .
