Netflix ’s highly-anticipated adaptation of Holly Smales’s bestselling YA book series Geek Girl just dropped and fans can’t get enough. The series follows Harriet Manners – played by 21-year-old actor Emily Carey – a ‘socially inept and unfashionable’ teenager whose world is turned upside down when she is scouted by a top London modelling agency and must relearn everything she knows about herself. As the awkward 16-year-old tries to figure out if she is ‘cut out’ for the fashion world, filled with tabloid gossip and invasive paparazzi, she meets successful model Nick (Liam Woodrum) and the two kick off an unlikely connection.

The cast also stars Zac Looker as best friend Toby Pilgrim, W1A star Sarah Parish as Jude, Riches actor Emmanuel Imani as mentor Wilbur and English actor Tim Downie as dad Richard. The beloved six-book series which came out between 2013 to 2017 has accumulated a devoted fanbase over the years and they are all out in full force for the TV adaptation. Not only that but it is a notable departure from Emily’s previous role as young Alicent Hightower in the dark and gritty HBO Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon .
