Out of 10 cities, Rochester ranked ninth on the US News and World Report’s list thanks to the city’s quality of life, value, desirability, and job market indexes, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported. Rochester is known for its history, major university and, above all, its winter storms. The city in Upstate New York currently has a population of just over 1 million.

The median costs $195,508, nearly half the median price of homes in the US as a whole. The median age is 40 years old and the unemployment rate is 8.8%.

In an effort to get more people moving to the area, the city started the Greater ROC Remote program. The Greater ROC Remote program offers home assistance programs and career services. Those looking to move can receive up to $10,000 in grants and incentives plus another $9,000 in home-buying grants.
