Fair City star Maclean Burke has lifted the lid on working on the current murder storyline, which saw his on-screen sister, Laura found dead. The actor, who plays Carrigstown's Damien Halpin, thought Mark Halpin could have been the murderer, but now he is not so sure. All he wants is for Damien to get some closure after years of dealing with tragedy.

He revealed that the whole cast have been left in the dark about who the killer is and how the storyline will play out. I found out that the body was Laura’s during the read through on set.

"I didn’t have the scripts for the following weeks, so I didn’t know. Michael Sheehan, who plays Dean, turned around and said ‘You know whose body it is? I said ‘No’ and then he told me it was Laura’s body. "These kinds of storylines capture everyone’s imagination, even the cast is into this one.

"The writers are giving nothing away and there is a lot of excitement on set. So it is good fun from that point of view." He added: "The subject matter is also en pointe with everything going on in Ireland at the moment with violence towards women.
