Experience Chehalis is looking for an artist to create a new mural at the Vernetta Smith Chehalis Timberland Library. “Through public art we aim to not only beautify our community, but to create the opportunity to experience art in daily life,” Experience Chehalis stated. The organizations asked for a “vibrant and joyful floral and plant-themed mural.
” The mural will be located on the retaining wall in the library’s drive-thru area. “The ideal mural will not have a library theme, instead being inspired by the big, bold botanicals that make Chehalis, and the Pacific Northwest at large, such a beautiful place to live,” Experience Chehalis stated. Mural dimensions for the wall are approximately 268-feet-by-63-inches.
Artists are welcome to submit a proposal on their own or as a group. Artists do not need to have previous mural experience but are expected to possess the skills and expertise to create a mural, Experience Chehalis stated. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the site before submitting an application.
Compensation of $3,000 will be provided, and the muralist will be responsible for all costs associated with the creation of the mural, including materials, but excluding paint. Experience Chehalis will provide paint and primer. The timeline to complete the mural will be four to six weeks after the selected muralist is notified, as weather allows.
To be considered for this mural project, submit the following by June 25: Submit information to info@.
