Joined by Sam Hall, who portrays his on-screen son Samson, the pair discussed their current storyline on Wednesday's episode of the ITV chat show, which involves Samson lying about being stabbed by Matty Barton (played by Ash Palmisciano), resulting in Matty's imprisonment. However, the conversation soon shifted to Steve Halliwell, known for his long-standing role as Zak Dingle, the Mirror reports.

Halliwell first graced Emmerdale in October 1994 and remained a fixture for 29 years. The beloved actor passed away peacefully at 77 in December 2023, surrounded by family. After his passing, his family shared in a statement: "He was making us laugh to the end, the most amazing father and grandfather you could ever wish for.

" Hooton, an Emmerdale veteran of 30 years, paid tribute to Halliwell and confirmed that a storyline honouring Zak Dingle is set to begin filming next month.
