A woman who accused a therapist of raping her during a £750 therapy session has been awarded more than £200,000 in damages. Mr Justice Jeremy Baker handed down his judgment in the civil case of Ella Janneh, 37, who alleged that she was raped and sexually assaulted by Michael Lousada during a therapy session at his clinic in London in August 2016. Handing down the judgement, Baker said the strength of evidence on behalf of Ms Janneh, who waived her right to anonymity, was "extremely strong".
Ms Janneh, who now resides in Australia, launched the proceedings after the CPS decided not to press charges against Lousada, who has appeared on programmes such as This Morning to discuss his style of therapy. Michael Lousada, 56, a former investment banker, denied the claims brought by former client Ella Janneh, 37, who accused him of sexual assault and rape. The artist, who waived her right to anonymity, approached Lousada for therapy after suffering panic attacks during consensual sex after being sexually abused as a child.
But during a £750 session, she claimed he raped her, allegedly telling her is penis was "like a laser beam", and would "burn up trauma". Lousada opened his first "sexual wellness clinic" in 2016 in a private Spire hospital, and claims to Psychosexual Therapy and "Bodywork" as part of his business. The alleged incident took place during a session on 18 August 2016, when Janneh attended the therapist's Belsize Park clinic in London.
