Max Verstappen had started the 2024 season off in a similar fashion to his previous season. However, Red Bull’s struggling pace caught the 26-year-old off guard as he lost out on multiple races so far. Regardless, this didn’t stop the Dutchman from showcasing some dominant performances.
The Emilia Romagna GP was one such race where Verstappen showcased a great performance just after winning the 24 hours of the Nurburgring virtual race. Max Verstappen made history by winning two races on the same day, the 24 hours of Nurburgring and the Emilia Romagna GP . Hence, the Dutchman received a lot of praise for this impressive feat.
However, Eddie Jordan reckoned that if were in Christian Horner ‘s shoes, he wouldn’t have allowed this case despite the 26-year-old not asking for permission . Jordan would’ve put his foot down and said that racing in Imola was more important for Verstappen. Jordan would therefore have imposed a racing ban on the Dutchman for the virtual 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.
"If I had been Christian Horner I would have said: 'I'm sorry Max, you're here in Imola," he said. Additionally, Jordan mentioned that Verstappen was paid by Red Bull to represent the sponsors and the team. As a result, partaking in such virtual races would’ve caused the 26-year-old to lose focus on the more important matter.
Hence, the three-time world champion didn’t need any distractions from the main race in Imola. Eddie Jordan claims he never ‘doubted’ Max Verstappen .
